Blogiversary Sock Love Giveaway!
My official blogiversary was back in April - but now that it's summer, I have time to think about these things a little more.
I can't believe it's been (over) two whole years.
What started as a way to keep in touch with family and friends has evolved into something I wouldn't have predicted. I think I've officially become a knitblogger. Whoa!
I would like to celebrate with my very first giveaway.
The entry requirements... leave a comment about your favorite socks you have knit - maybe they were the most challenging, or the most rewarding, or the most beautiful, or the first... give some details.
I know that rules out those of you who don't knit socks, but that's because the prize is sock related - so if you have not knit a pair yet, tell me about the pattern you can't wait to knit - or just give some sock love in the comments and you will be in the running for...
a little destash - Yarn Pirate "I Want Candy":
and a little promo - a set of my stitch markers for US 2 or smaller from my newly re-opened etsy shop:
I will draw a winner at random next week.
So... bring on the sock love!
In the spirit of sock love...
My current socks are coming along s l o w l y with so many fun summer things to do - but it's not always about speed - there is a process to enjoy here too, right?

I've called them my "Farfalle Socks" because the little cables remind me of the pasta - although they are more twist tie than bow tie.
The color also reminds me a lot of a Creamette box.

I'll kick things off by telling you about the first socks I ever darned — just recently, at that. These withstood a full year of being worn nearly every other day while my mother alternated them with the other pair I had knit her. I'm now knitting her another pair (with more to come in the future, I'm certain), in hopes of lengthing their lifespans a bit.
The other pair she was alternating them with, interestingly, looks almost new, even on the soles.
My favorite pair were the first pair I knit for my, then 4 yr old. They were such a quick knit, and that is when I fell in love with Cherry Tree Hill yarn. I think I knit them up within a week or so.... what a boost for my new knitter self.
*I* am one of those knitters that did NOT understand knitting socks... then through blog surfing I.fell.in.love. with all the patterns, colors, and techniques...I rarely ever knit anything else...
BTW Farfalle means Butterfly in Italian. So when I look at your beautiful sock, I see butterflies flying in a nice green field. Sweet!
I will bow out of the contest... we leave for vacation tomorrow... and we will be incommunicado for the summer... I just couldn't resist sharing about my favorite socks.
Oh, my mini socks (the header on my blog) are my next favorites... Love them!!
Happy Blogiversary!!!!
I cannot resist the chance at a prize that contains your stitch markers--I think they are great!
I love my purl-free monkey socks that I made with Trekking XXL. Super comfy and fun to knit. I just made them this past winter and they have gotten a lot of wear. I'm also loving my current pair on the needles--Bellatrix, using Madeline Tosh. Super colors, and a funky yet simple design.
Actually the pair of socks I'm working on right is my favorite! I'm making Jaywalkers with Knit Picks Felici. This is my first time knitting a self-striping yarn and I love it! The color changes keep me interested. :)
My favourite pair of socks is the first one I finished, red lacy socks. They are too big, though, and I gave them to my mother.
I think my favorite socks to knit are the Child's First Sock from favorite socks. They were the first I knit on dpns and with really nice sock yarn (trekking!) and I loved it. So much so that I knit up another pair (that I must finish up tonight before summer of socks) in Panda Cotton and I am LOVING it. I just have the toe to do on the second one and should be able to finish on the train ride home tonight! woo hoo!
My favorite socks are Embossed Leaves Socks...I made my first pair last summer and finished my second pair last week. The leave pattern chart is so fun and easy to follow.
I love your Farfalle socks. I may have to make some as well.
Happy blogiversary!
My favorite socks are the ones I started during Thanksgiving 2006. I named them Pink Posey socks (after the name of the Claudia Hand Painted sock yarn colorway). They are my favorite because: (1) they were the ones that really kicked off my love of sock knitting, and (2) I discovered that I really like knitting with Claudia Hand Painted sock yarn.
I have not knit socks yet, but my friend does. I would love to win this so I could give it to her so she can knit me a pretty pair. :) Thanks!
I didn't love the first pair of socks I knit (they were "practice socks" made of pink acrylic), but the second pair might be my favourites. They're nothing too fancy - brown Briggs & Little Tuffy yarn in the Thuja pattern from Knitty - but they fit my feet well and they've stood up nicely to the wear they've gotten. Having thick wool socks for the cold part of this winter was really nice.
I'm so glad you are back to making the stitch markers. I love them, I think I have some in every project currently on my needles.
My favorite socks that I have made have to be my Monkey socks. I loved the pattern and the way they knit up. I used Cherry Tree Hill yarn that a wonderful friend gave me for my 50th birthday. Special yarn for awesome socks. And I always think of my friend when I wear them!!
mmmm, socky love!
I think my favorite socks I've knit is some Noro Monkeys. It's my fav for several reasons. The first being that the Noro was a gift from one of my friends. The second that she knit the first sock and a half! She knit it and was tired of it and the yarn and was fussing about it and jokingly I said "I'll take 'em" so she said OK, we threaded live stitches on waste yarn and the socks came home with me. We apparently have the same (or close enough) gauge and foot size oddly enough and now I have some Noro Monkeys. And a desire to knit more monkeys!
I am loving the Synesthesia Socks I am working on right now. You can find the pattern on Ravelry. I love that it is easy enough that I don't need the chart and can easily tell where I left off, yet it is a lovely pattern. It's great for bus knitting.
