New Bed

I finally consented to setting up our new bed. Davin got a nice C&B bed for $5 from work about a year ago (someone returned it). Our old bed is a funky platform bed with handicap bars on the side that Davin made years ago - it really was like a piece of art. That piece of art became super squeaky over the years. Even laying down on it anymore was loud enough to wake the neighbors - especially since we have the same brand of baby monitors. I don't know why I was so sentimental about it - Davin didn't care. So this weekend we put together our new bed. We had to do something with the kid once he woke up, so we confined him to the colloseum of pillows. I was surprised how ok he was with that - I guess there were toys in the colloseum.

Incidentally, this morning he fell out of the new bed (I'm sure the bad parenting police are on their way). It's pretty low, so it was a very small thud, and not one tear. I think it scared us more than anything - he's gotten so fast - I was laying right next to him and suddenly he was gone. I guess "that'll learn us."

Dinner Posture

This posture for dinner the other night cracked us up. I didn't see how he wiggled his leg over the tray... suddenly it was just up there and he thought he was pretty cool.

It's official...

Emily, Stephen and Tryggve are officially gone. Stephen and Emily's Dad drove out west last Monday with the cars. Emily, her Mom and Tryggve flew out this morning. *sigh*
At least Radley and I were able to spend some time in Fargo with Emily and Tryggve before they left. We drove up and spent a few days last week still in denial about the fact that they were leaving.
Radley was getting over his first cold, so we did our best to keep the kids on separate toys. It was difficult to keep Radley in one spot now that he is mobile. At one point we had him in a pack-n-play to keep them apart. He kept smooshing his face against the side wanting to get out to us.

By the way - Emily, when you read this... I was so in denial on Friday, that I forgot to get your new address and phone number before we left!

Sewer Raccoons

We have raccoons in our neighborhood. We just saw one walking down the street at dusk. Then it got to the storm drain in front of our house and went in.
Weird.

Summertime, Summertime, Sum-Sum-Summertime

The first week of summer has flown by.

Emily, Stephen and Tryggve
It will be too soon that our good friends will be relocating to the west coast. But this past Saturday we tried not to think about it. Tryggve and Radley are only 4 months apart in age - that span of time seems smaller and smaller each time they get together.

Sunday in Alex
We spent last Sunday in Alexandria gathering together before another big move - Chris, JW and Wyatt are moving to Montana. It was a beautiful day... perfect for bocce ball and horseshoes. Radley even took a (very short) nap outside.

Puzzle Geek
I love to have a jigsaw puzzle out on a table when I am around home, it's a good way to relax for a few minutes while Radley is napping. I had a chance to finish a cool round Springbok from 1965 of "The Adoration of the Magi" - Davin says I am a Puzzle Geek, but there is nothing like the pieces of an old Springbok - they have really interesting shapes and such a sturdy feel - I would highly recommend them to other puzzle geeks.

Summer Reading
I have an ambitious stack of summer reading next to my bedside right now... who knows what I will really get to. Right now I am re-reading a favorite - Time and Again by Jack Finney. It is amusing how a "read" can be different each time depending on what's going on in your life and mind at the time you are reading.

David Hasselhoff
Need a good laugh or a song to try and get out of your head? Try this video of David Hasselhoff singing Hooked on a Feelin'. It just keeps getting cheesier.
