Get Up, Stand Up

Radley pulled himself up to standing by himself tonight... and if you think it's not true, we have witnesses - Emily, Stephen and Tryggve were here.

And so it begins.

Four at Once!

Radley just has not been himself lately. He hasn't been sleeping quite as well, and he has been a lot crankier - especially when tired. We thought he might be getting sick... maybe an ear infection, but then we saw... four teeth are coming in at the same time on the top of his mouth! OUCH!
He still isn't himself... but now we know why (and are giving him Tylenol!).
It will be a lot different to see his smile with teeth. They are hard to see (he doesn't let you look very closely), but I am sure it won't be long.

Sewer Raccoons

We have raccoons in our neighborhood. We just saw one walking down the street at dusk. Then it got to the storm drain in front of our house and went in.
Weird.

Lovin' the Greenway

Radley took his first official bike ride this weekend. He liked it so much he took a nap.
Davin tricked out our bike trailer - mounting Radley's older car seat inside. It works perfectly.

It has been a long time since I have been biking - last summer my OB told me to go ahead and try biking, but it would probably make me feel like there is a hot knife in my vagina - I decided to pass on biking last summer.

It was great to get back out on the greenway. Where we live we have easy access to the greenway system of trails that lead all over the cities. Parts of the trails make you feel like you are not even in the city. I have seen all kinds of wildlife on the trails, even fox!

Radley and I like to go for morning walks, we stop at the local coffee shop. It's Radley's version of Cheers, the owner Melissa even knows him from when Davin would stop there on his time off. The first time I stopped there alone with Radley this spring she came up to us and said "isn't that Radley?" Really, who can forget a cute face like his. :)
After getting a little morning java we loop back home on the greenway. It's funny how we often see the same people walking or biking - it feels like we are in a small town waving and saying "hi" to the familiar faces.
On that stretch we walk right by one of the few old parks that are left from the days when HWY 100 was Lilac Drive. (They had a little bit on WCCO recently on them that you can see online: Finding Minnesota-Lilac Drive). We are surrounded by construction on two sides of our neighborhood this summer (and perhaps soon three sides). They are working on 100 and I am glad to see that they are taking care to keep that historic roadside park protected.

Summertime, Summertime, Sum-Sum-Summertime

The first week of summer has flown by.

Emily, Stephen and Tryggve
It will be too soon that our good friends will be relocating to the west coast. But this past Saturday we tried not to think about it. Tryggve and Radley are only 4 months apart in age - that span of time seems smaller and smaller each time they get together.

Sunday in Alex
We spent last Sunday in Alexandria gathering together before another big move - Chris, JW and Wyatt are moving to Montana. It was a beautiful day... perfect for bocce ball and horseshoes. Radley even took a (very short) nap outside.

Puzzle Geek
I love to have a jigsaw puzzle out on a table when I am around home, it's a good way to relax for a few minutes while Radley is napping. I had a chance to finish a cool round Springbok from 1965 of "The Adoration of the Magi" - Davin says I am a Puzzle Geek, but there is nothing like the pieces of an old Springbok - they have really interesting shapes and such a sturdy feel - I would highly recommend them to other puzzle geeks.

Summer Reading
I have an ambitious stack of summer reading next to my bedside right now... who knows what I will really get to. Right now I am re-reading a favorite - Time and Again by Jack Finney. It is amusing how a "read" can be different each time depending on what's going on in your life and mind at the time you are reading.

David Hasselhoff
Need a good laugh or a song to try and get out of your head? Try this video of David Hasselhoff singing Hooked on a Feelin'. It just keeps getting cheesier.

Long Overdue

We are long overdue for a new post.
Here's the latest:
  • Davin went back to work on the 22nd. The grandparents have been helping us out with "Radley care" until I am off for the summer. We are so lucky!
  • Recently we visited Great-Grandma Hansen. Radley got to sleep in the cradle she slept in as a baby.
  • We have officially reached the crawling stage - he's still pretty slow, but we are in for it soon.
  • and just last night Radley went from crawling to sitting up all on his own. It is so amazing to watch him growing and changing every day.
Only three days of school left! I can't wait to be home again for summer!
